Absolutely... but not the way you might think. Insurance companies raise premiums from storm-related events based on ZIP CODES. You may pay a higher premium for your neighbor's repairs or replacement if you do not file a claim. Call your provider and ask them.

The only time you should ever get multiple estimates is if you are paying out of pocket, or you are NOT going through the insurance process. You should find a respected, reputable contractor that has proven workmanship; Someone that you trust if something goes wrong, and will do everything in their power to make it right. Your insurance company owes you the best, not the least expensive.

It is very common for a denied claim to have re-inspections. We have a 99% rate of getting denied claims turned over. Our representatives are very conservative in the inspection process. Many times we will set expectations to our clients of damage being in a marginal state. However, if there is definitive damage we will fight for you and introduce you to other options.

Many insured clients are not aware of the deductible % that they have. Most Insurance companies have a 1%. Very few do a 2%; however, they are out there. Check your policy for the type. An ACV policy means you will NOT be able to recover the depreciation. On an older home this could be very bad. RCV policies allow you to recover 100% of your estimate minus your deductible.
